FREEDOM AGENDA RESPONDS TO GOVERNOR HOCHUL AND PROSECUTORS’ MISINFORMATION ON NEW YORK'S SUCCESSFUL AND COMMON-SENSE DISCOVERY LAWS

(New York, NY)- Freedom Agenda Co-Director Darren Mack released the following statement in response to misleading statements by Governor Kathy Hochul and District Attorneys about New York’s successful and common-sense discovery laws:

“Every New Yorker has a right to fairness and transparency in the courtroom. Governor Hochul and the DAASNY must think New Yorkers have amnesia, that we’ve forgotten the way things used to work. Our members know all too well what it’s like to linger on Rikers for years with no access to the evidence in your case or to have charges thrown at you with nothing to back them up. Steps have been made to level the playing field that has for so long been stacked against us. We know all New Yorkers are safer when our justice system operates with fairness and transparency. Our legislators know this too, and they must reject this shameful attack on our civil rights.”
